A Thanksgiving for 2.

Another Thanksgiving has come and gone.

It has been several years since we have been back home for Thanksgiving. I think it has been about 6+ years. We always miss celebrating with our family, but as students and being 8-hours away we have found it is easier to stay put rather than travel for the short weekend. Although I had to work all day, I still wanted to have a good Thanksgiving with my husband and celebrate the holiday.

Zaxby, the cat.

We started off the day with cinnamon rolls, bacon, and coffee. Of course, I had a little help making the bacon….

Our Thanksgiving entrée was brown sugar and pineapple ham that cooked all day in the crockpot. When I went to the store to buy the ham a few days before the holiday, I realized when the ham got smaller it got more expensive! How does that work? I just laughed about it and told my husband it better be made of gold when I open it.

Because I was at work all day, my husband was in charge of cooking the sides. He made green beans, scalloped potatoes, and garlic bread.

Of course, it’s not a Thanksgiving dinner without desserts! I went ahead and made the desserts the day before. We had homemade cheesecake, mini apple pies, and chocolate pudding pie. “What are you thankful for…”
Julie: my new car we got this year, Zaxby, my husband, friends, family, my job, the ability to get an education, and waking up every morning to a new day.
Thomas: for where I am at in life right now.

Let the Christmas decorating begin!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
