Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookies


creates about 52 two-inch cookies

: KitchenAid mixer, cookie sheets, parchment paper, and oven


  • dry mix
    • 3 cups whole wheat flour
    • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • wet mix
    • 2 sticks cold butter, cut into half-inch pieces
    • 3/4 cups brown sugar, packed
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 2 eggs
    • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
    • 10oz mini chocolate chip morsels


  • preheat oven to 350F
  • line cookie sheets with parchment paper
  • mix dry ingredients in a bowl and whisk until well mixed, then set aside
  • in the KitchenAid:
    • mix butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar for 2 minutesIMG_5690
    • add 1 egg, wait until well mixed
    • add the 2nd egg, wait until well mixed
    • add vanilla
    • add dry mixture slowly
    • stop the mixer and scrape sides of the bowl
    • mix for another 15 seconds, everything should be well mixed nowIMG_5695
    • add chocolate chips
      • just run KitchenAid long enough for chips to be evenly distributed
  • using a cookie scoop, or a 1 tablespoon measuring spoon, make cookie dough balls and place on parchment-lined cookie sheets
  • bake one cookie sheet at a time for 13 minutes each until dough is all made
